AT ROOF TOP FILM FESTIVAL

It’s a fun watching movies.. but it becomes more interesting when a lot of film buffs gather and speak out their views & opinions about the screened films, & we get to envisage a collaborative image of the movie.. This was what exactly happened at the RTFF- ROOF TOP FILM FESTIVAL on saturday the 24th of march. This event was organized collaboratively. Ganesh and T.U.Dinesh were the brain behind this event. It all started like this: ganesh wanted to screen the world cup matches for some commercial profit. But it didn’t turn well. So ganesh decided to host a film fest. A wiki was created for this event where all the requesites ,terms,contributors,campers & the list of movies proposed were put.. The event started at 8pm in the evening ant went non-stop till 7.30 am next morning. This was not an event for just coming and watching a movie but you have to either help with organising, or bring something to bite and also put forward your views about the movies screened(which is the interesting aspect of this event). The final list of movies screened were,

• Hard Candy
• blood simple
• Annie Hall
• That Four Letter Word

along with some short movies,

• Call Centre
• America America
• Hi Dad

We also had Sudhish Kamath with us, the one who directed The Four Letter Word. It was interesting to hear a lot from him i.e., his views, directions to local film makers and a lot of other issues w.r.t movies. The whole night we had fun watching,munching & boozing(hey, not me). The fest ended somewhere around 7 am next morning. I had watched all the movies without even taking a short nap.. after the event i had to walk from ICICI towers upto Adyar River bridge bus stop & i was so much tired. I took a bus to T.Nagar. On the way the last thing i remembered seeing was ‘Dolars & Pounds’ in adyar and the next moment i remember was a passingby bus driver waking me up at the T.Nagar bus depot. He said to me that the bus had reached there 15 mins earlier and abused me of not yet leaving the bus.. I got down and reached my place by 8.45 am. Anyway the previous night was AMAZING…….

OUR BOT AT IIT-MADRAS

me along with arjun , avadi arun vijay & hari sudhan presented this bot at SHASTRA-2006,IIT-Madras. There were about 180+ teams in this event alone( STAIR CASE CLIMBER) . The bot had to climb 10 steps.. each team was given 3 trials. In the first trial our bot didnt even climb a step.. avadi arun was the one who was handling the wired control.. then we had to work a lot before our second trial. we wanted more power and so we coupled up two batteries (rechargeable ,big ones)placed them before the motor so that the motor can push the weight of the battery also.. so we did a lot of moderations.. we went for our second trial. To our atmost surprise the bot started to climbed and a bit faster.. but at the fourth step avadi arun let the wire loose and it got tangled between the left wheels.. again we’d to forfeit.. before the 3rd trial we made sure everything was fine. There in the 3rd trial the bot successfully reached 10 steps in 2 min & 32 secs .. the bot which won the first place took only 14 secs to reach 10 steps.. Out of 180+ teams only about 30-35 precisely were able to complete. we were one in them. A maiden, successful attempt…

PISSING IN THE WRONG CUBICLE

It was thursday the 14th september.. myself & my friends had assembled in SSN colloge of engg. to take part in ‘Eupraxia’, a tech symposium conducted by SSN. Among my friends were Parasaran, Jayaprasad(HT),Naveen kumar(a nerd), ‘porki’ Mohan,’Kammam’ Deepak, ‘avadi’ Arun, Prem das,’Kulla’ Kannan,’Mokka’ Kannan,’Bubbly’ prasanth,’Kai’ Balaji, others & myself(Bai, Rawuthar.. well, i have a lot of names). we got registered ourselves in the reception desk. then we moved into the main auditorium, a huge air conditioned one which i suppose had a capacity of 750.
it had a good infrastructure(facilitated by HCL). i really felt sorry for my college. when the entire crowd was seated SSN began its symposium with screen projections of their chairman’s speech & then it started boasting abt. it’s facilities ,infrastructure ,etc..
on the screen . it also screened a trailor of its culturals which will be held next year. all this was going on & we were jocularly chatting on the other side.. after it was over we came out of the hall. my bladder was full after an hour in a/c. so i went to the toilet on the right side of the auditorium. parasaran & naveen accompanied me.. parasaran was the first to go inside followed by naveen & then me. suddenly jayaprasad called from the far end saying to checkout whether it was the gents toilet. i turned towards the door and saw a gold name plate on it. on it was written in satin black ‘LADIES TOILET’. I stepped out quickly and grabbed naveen by his shirt. but PARASARAN had entered the toilet cubicle by then .. he didnt even notice that the toiled looked different from that of a gents toilet. i joined the rest of our boys standing outside the toilet thanking jaya for his warning. we waited outside for parasaran. after two minutes he came out & we broke into a lauhter.. paras was standing stunned at the sight of our laughs . i told him that he had pissed in girls toilet. paras went flabbergasted for a moment & then himself broke into a laugh.. had there been a girl inside the toilet or else had a girl entered after paras had entered the toilet ,then, well ,he would have been
responsible for defaming our already corrupt college reputation….
